In September 2019, the first African edition of Solar Decathlon will be held in the green city of Mohammed VI of Benguerir in Morocco. This competition consists in conceptualizing low energy buildings which use renewable energies and sustainable raw materials. The goal of the competition is to contribute towards improving knowledge of solar and sustainable housing by educating the general public on the benefits and opportunities of renewable energies in order to promote the use of solar technologies.

During this competition, 20 sustainable houses, built by 1,200 students will be presented to the judges and visitors. Among these houses, the Tdart team, sponsored by Dome Solar, will show how they combined energy knowledge and skill to create the ultimate green house. Indeed, the goal of Tdart is to build a living organism that is flexible, sustainable and adaptable to the needs of multi-generational inhabitants, while preserving Moroccan identity.

What role is Dome Solar playing in the Tdart project?

To build an energy self-sufficient building, the Tdart team has constructed a roof capable of supporting 35 photovoltaic modules which will be installed by a Dome Solar mounting system. Being one of the sponsors of this project is a great opportunity to support young and talented students in raising awareness of new solar technologies. In fact, young people are becoming more and more involved in the climate emergency affecting our planet. It is our duty to work to protect it and this requires all types of actions, on a small or larger scale. This was what was obvious to Dome Solar when the Tdart team proposed this partnership to us.

We hope the Tdart students had a rewarding time working together for a better future and wish them the best of luck in the competition!
